This initiative continues the work of MULEIDE supported by the Foundation in the fight Haurralde to address, prevent and eradicate violence mostly male suffering structural and Mozambican women in general, which keeps women's empowerment in all its aspects .

Specifically, this proposal would cover the great lack of infrastructure support and comprehensive care to women victims of structural violence and macho detected through several diagnoses in the province of Maputo. We propose the construction of a comprehensive care center in the province to provide shelter and care for these women, and at the same time serve as a space for the empowerment of women in the defense and exercise of their rights, and the promoting greater awareness and awareness of Maputo (especially men) that encourages active participation in the prevention and reporting of structural violence and macho and persons and entities that do not take sides in an active world problems .

BUILDING ON GENDER AND DECLINE OF MALNUTRITION / CHILD MALNUTRITION IN CABO DELGADO

BUILDING ON GENDER AND DECLINE OF MALNUTRITION / CHILD MALNUTRITION IN CABO DELGADO STRENGTHENING THE HEALTH AND HEALTH CARE (1 PHASE)

REGION: Palma, Pemba and Mocimboa da Praia

pemba

LOCAL PARTNER: MULEIDE PEMBA (e Desenvolvimento Mulher lei)

SUMMARY

This project is a diagnosis made between the months of June, 2010 to March 2011 in Cabo Delgado, specifically in the districts of Palma and Pemba where indicators of malnutrition / nutrition and health are lowest along with Zambezia

Malaria, respiratory infections and acute diarrhea are the 3 leading causes of infant mortality in children / as 0 to 5 years. According to the IOF (Orçamento inquest on Family), 47 percent of all / as the / as boys / girls under five years are stunted Mozambique (23 percent severely), corresponding to about 1.7 million children / as and 19 percent are underweight (5 percent severe).

Different studies, the report Child undernutrition in Mozambique of UNICEFF conclude that the income earned by mothers and the autonomy they have over this resource, are among the most important factors that determine the health and nutritional status of their children. That is, when women have economic control reverts family nutrition / as children / as a greater extent than when the head of household is a man. This leads us to pose with the local organization MULEIDE, a first phase of this project where work is articulated with local organizations and public statements to the improvement in nutrition / child malnutrition, crop diversification, improved malaria prevalence and attention to the empowerment of women through the following strategies:

  1. Creation and implementation of two nutrition centers in Palma and Pemba, for training and health education of families through the assistance of professional nutritionists and monitoring of children / as in eating habits and hygiene.
  2. Education and training on crop diversification and introduction of vegetable production performance improvement through intensive monitoring in machambas families.
  3. Prevention of malaria, diarrhea, cholera and skin diseases through the malaria campaign communities, family formation in water and health management and implementation systems in the communities of non-polluting disposal of solid waste.
  4. Introduction and gender training to organizations / groups participating and strengthening the medium / long-term individual and collective empowerment of women through income generation through micro-local.

Gender and improvement of child malnutrition. Mozambique

pemba Project: Gender and improvement of child malnutrition
PEMBA, the capital of Cabo Delgado. Local partner: MULEIDE Pemba

Scope of Analysis and Diagnosis: Since we set a Haurralde a feasibility analysis, which was held in June 2010 to conduct a post-specific diagnosis on issues of civil society building, gender and decreased maternal and child malnutrition is very high. A key could be in the low education rates by mothers. We were interested to know how policies are being implemented at the local level, organizations such as working in the area, established networks and enable access from this development with the local counterpart.
